Close call. I was putting my mast away after the class championships in Alameda.  A terminal for one of the upper shrouds simply fell off in my hand. Another mishap happened to a top skipper when his main sheet broke in the middle while approaching the weather mark. In both cases the gear has been replaced but the lesson remains.

The MCYRA Executive Committee approved for 2016 a trial period for competitors to use a GPS device to record courses sailed while racing. Off the water skipper's can analyze and share the GPS data.  In GPS speak this is creating “track” of the course you sailed including direction, speed and time.

The Mercury class is off to a great start this year. By now you have received your 2016 MCYRA Yearbook. Close inspection of Fleet Member Listings will find 6 new boat owners. Some have bought active boats and a few are restoring boats. Please welcome these new members to the Mercury family.
