Mercury Class Yacht Racing Association

Race three of the 4 part Encinal YC Mercury series was a perfect example of what sailing in the Estuary can be. Moderate breeze, flat water and sunshine. The wind settled in to Westerly with some good puffs towards the middle of day allowing for a 5 race day over paperclip courses two times around.

Randy Smith continued his streak to win the day although he had to earn it. Happy to see some new faces  Mike Spitz sailing for the first time I believe, after getting Bill O'Conners boat.  Charlie McKenzie had issues with a stuck halyard but made it out finally to sail into a second place in one race. Also sailing were two Knarr sailors testing the Mercury's....
Not a new face per se but Dan Simons from Truckee came to sail as well. We did also manage to weigh three boats in conformity to this years decision to set a base line and weigh all boats. Weighing the boats will help for this year nationals and next year's nationals if held at Huntington Lake.
